People and Place
People and Place is a series of pen on paper drawings that I did in 2020 and 2021. They are all illustrations for a place-based educational curriculum that I wrote while working at Calypso Farm and Ecology Center in Fairbanks. The curriculum is 9 months of weekly place-based, outdoor-focused lesson ideas for K-6th grade students centered on the ecology of Interior Alaska (and a bonus unit about Alaska’s coasts and oceans). The drawings served as title pages for each monthly theme and weekly topic that the curriculum covers. I also think they are a beautiful piece of art all on their own, as they illustrate the yearly cycles and activities that make Alaska an important and unique place to call home.
