Drawings and Illustration Style Paintings
One of my favorite styles of making art is to create work that has a whimsical or playful quality while also illustrating some topic about the natural world. To me the word “illustration” brings to mind both scientific illustrations, or art that tries to accurately capture the details of the natural world, as well as the playful illustrations of children’s books. I like to think that this style of my work draws on and sometimes mixes both definitions. I work in many mediums to achieve this style, including acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil.
